Westside School Westside School

    Curriculum Overview

At the core of the Westside provision lies academic attainment, to ensure that all our students leave Year 11 ready to continue with 6th Form studies, apprenticeships or other training.

We ensure a personalised approach to the curriculum, particularly at Key Stage 4. Westside’s 1:3 staff to student ratio means that the one-to-one opportunities necessary to achieve this can be created across the curriculum.

The Westside curriculum has been created to aid progressions through all ability levels and focuses on a prescribed aspect, with both academic and vocational options in Years 10 and 11. The subjects offered provide a rich and varied range of material designed to re-engage and motivate students. Our co-educational setting ensures that all choices are suitably and equally encouraged for both boys and girls.

A broad and balanced curriculum enables all young people to become:

Successful independent learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve.

Confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.

Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
